Proxy Access to GP Records (Access for parents or carers)
Patients may find it helpful if someone else, usually a trusted family member, close friend, carer or care home, has access to their GP online account This is proxy access. In certain circumstances, particularly when patients lack capacity or have complex multimorbidity, it can be very helpful for a proxy to have access to their record to keep up-to-date and collaborate in their healthcare.
Proxy Access for children and young people. Before a child develops the capacity to make informed choices about their healthcare or GP Online Services, or to be able to keep their online account secure, the usual position would be for someone with parental responsibility for the child to control access to GP Online Services and to have proxy access where it is in the child’s best interests.

Requesting Access to Full Medical Record.
From November 2022, we are contractually obliged to offer full medical record access. This access can be requested by the patient. The practice will need to review the medical record before providing access and if appropriate redact any sensitive or third-party information as necessary. This will need to be passed to a senior clinician to review and may take a little longer to authorise.
